Prof Mani Santhana Krishnan FRCPsych Consultant in Old Age Psychiatry Specialty Clinical Director, TEWV NHS FT Associate Dean & Regional Delirium Lead Health Education England Visiting Professor of Psychiatry at Sri Ramachandra Medical College and Sri Ramachandra Institute of Higher Education and Research. Honorary Fellow, Teesside University Immediate past Chair of the Old Age Psychiatry Faculty @RCPsych Prof Krishnan completed his MBBS in Sri Ramachandra Medical College & Research Institute and did his Psychiatry training in UK. He completes core training and higher specialist training as Old Age (geriatric) Psychiatrist. He has been working in the National Health Service for 28 Years. Dr Krishnan continues to do full time clinical role as community Old Age Psychiatrist, despite his widespread portfolio of roles. He has interests in raising the profile of Old Age Psychiatry and has worked on Dementia, Delirium and Depression and digital innovation in psychiatric care. Portable Handheld ECG device for Antipsychotic monitoring – Original Work During the COVID-19 Pandemic in 2020 Prof. Krishnan lead a pilot project to use a hand held ECG device that received emergency FDA authorisation for measure QTc. He piloted the device in his trust for QT monitoring for patients who are on antipsychotic medication. After his initial pilot there were further work done with Health Innovation team in the north east. he approached NICE for further evaluation. NICE completed an early value evaluation and in September 2023 NICE gave recommendation that the device can be used for antipsychotic monitoring. He also collaborated a publication with SRIHER department of Psychiatry using this device. Recently he completed further evaluation and research on the use of Instant QT an algorithm to do the QTc calculation to improve engagement of clinicians. Dr Krishnan has been on the journey of raising delirium awareness since 2014 in his region and globally he contributed to making a social movement using the powers of social media and networking.
